Hunting in New Mexico

Application for draw hunt licenses can be made on-line at the NM Game & Fish website. (see link below)  The non-resident application fee of $20 is charged to your credit card when the application is submitted.  You must buy a “game hunting” license prior to applying for a draw license. Happily you can get a refund of fee for the game hunting license if you don’t draw some other license. All licenses must be paid for at the time of applying.  In June you will either receive a license or the license fee will be refunded to your card.  The “New Mexico Big Game & Trapper Rules and Information” booklet is available for download from the same website where you do your applications.   

Read the information on page 36 of the booklet if you are considering hiring a guide.  Be sure that the agreement you sign with your outfitter states that ALL of the legally required permits and registrations have been obtained and are in force.
