Elk
In
contrast to most other outfitters, our elk hunts are 1 on 1 and we
usually guide only 1 or 2 hunters for each hunt. Most of our
elk hunting is between 6,500 and 9,500 feet. All the units
have some great bulls available.
Differences in terrain, hunter density, elk density and type of
accommodations give our clients many options. We do not
use horses or ATV’s. Taking bigger elk usually requires more
walking. Unit 34 has lots of drivable roads and the most
hunters. Unit 36 has a few good roads and fewer hunters.
Weather permitting, we spot with high quality optics to determine
exactly which bulls we want to pursue. We nearly always have
one dedicated spotter for each hunt. Plus each hunter gets a
dedicated guide. After evaluating our options we drive to the
closest point of approach then hunt on foot. We don’t rely
heavily on calling because elk tend to get call shy after the bow
hunters interact with them for 3 weeks. We usually cape and
bone out the elk where they fall. Then we pack them out in
frame-type backpacks.
100%
opportunity to shoot during more than 40 elk hunts conducted since
1997. Nearly half took
home 6 x 6 bulls (or better).
